Toolkit & Prototypes

Undefined · ongoing

Every game on this page starts from the same place: a starter template I maintain called the Undefined PixiJS Starter. Clone it, rename it, and you already have manifest-driven asset loading, a responsive full-canvas layout that handles landscape and portrait without letterboxing, a screen manager with transitions, Howler audio, JSON localisation, a save system with pluggable backends, and production builds for Poki, CrazyGames and self-hosting. It's the fourth generation of that idea, having started as a generic boilerplate in 2023 and been extracted, rewritten and packaged as a shared runtime along the way.

The template is written to be worked on both by hand and by coding agents, and that's changed how I prototype. Recent work has run as parallel git worktrees, one per milestone or feature, with design docs written first so there's something concrete to build against. The current pile includes Meltdown Rain (aim one ball, watch it split into a swarm), Asteroid Conquest (an extraction RTS played through a tactical operations console), Dungeon Evolution, Tower Merge, and a comedy puzzle game where the entire interface is the problem.

Most of these won't ship. The template makes a playable prototype cheap enough that I can find out whether an idea is fun in a few days, and stop if it isn't.
